Job Title of Opening: Loan Counselor
• Identify potential businesses for eligibility for micro financing. Explain various loan options and advise on most suitable programs.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Evaluate businesses against a preexisting set of underwriting criteria to determine eligibility for loan.
• Analyze the sustainability of the business in context of management, industry and other variables potentially impacting ability of business to survive, thrive and return capital investment.
• Assist the applicant in gathering data and documentation required to build financial statements and balance sheets in format required to procure loans.
• Make sure business is legally operating and directs them to become compliant as required to obtain financing. Review credit history and background as a factor for underwriting the loan.
• Prepare summaries of loan requests detailing risk and profits, negotiate and prepare offering sheets.
• Submit financial statements to underwriters detailing risk taking into account various factors that impact risk such as liquidity, credit history, cash flow, industry performance, collateral.
• Evaluate suitability of collateral which consist in these circumstances business assets.
• Recommend approval (or denial) and process applications communicating with underwriters as required. Insure loan agreements are complete and accurate.
• Once loan is made advice clients as required to ensure ongoing compliance with loan conditions.
Requirements:
• Requires a Master's Degree in Accounting and 1 month of experience. In lieu of, will accept a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 5 years of experience, or any suitable combination of education, training or experience thereof. Experience can be progressive.
